Artist in residence Christopher Hogan
Christopher is one of the world’s leading marine abstract artists. He has redesigned the world of artist in residency programs that defines and shapes the guest experience and brings his unique teaching style to One&Only Reethi Rah Maldives, where he is Artist in Residence for 9 months of the year. His artwork is collected by Regional Art Galleries in Australia and he has an impressive list of both corporate and private collectors from many parts of the world. He graduated from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) with a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) attaining a perfect score of 7 and invited entry into the Golden Key Honour Society, an International organisation that recognises exceptional scholastic achievement. He also has a Diploma Fine Art from the Brisbane Institute of Art and majored in Sculpture and Art History.

Christopher Hogan’s Signature Private In-Villa Art Classes offer a unique experience of one-on-one art classes. Learn from a master. Enjoy a two hour class in your private villa or for families and friends perhaps you would like to arrange an art party in your villa or on the beach. One&Only Reethi Rah’s resident artist will be holding object-based classes on ceramics, stained glass, Venetian mask decoration, miniature sculpture, cold porcelain floristics, jewellry, quiling and scrap-book making. These decorative art classes will focus on the stylish, historical and theoretical contexts of the various art forms including design, ranging from the Renaissance to the present, as well as authentic Maldivian culture.
Pottery classes are also available and focused on wheel-thrown pottery. This technique gives you time and practice to be creative using clay and its related decorating materials. Everyone will be involved hands-on and guided in practical project works covering a range of making and surface decorating techniques to reach an understanding of how to plan, make and decorate clay work creatively and successfully. You will decorate clay surfaces using various decorative techniques.
